Can You Bring Beach Chairs On a Plane? All You Need To Know!

Spending a long vacation at a stunning beach without your own beach chairs would not be worth it. Renting or spending on beach chairs that you already have at home is not desirable. You want to take your beloved beach gear including beach chairs anywhere you go. However, the point is can you bring beach chairs on a plane?

can you bring beach chairs on a plane?

There is no restriction on bringing beach chairs on a plane. Most airlines have a weight and size limit for checked and carry-on baggage. If the beach chair can fit in your suitcase you’re good to go. Additional charges apply on checked baggage that exceeds the weight or size limit.

The same is true for all the camping chairs. You can bring camping chairs and folding chairs on a plane.

Traveling with beach chairs should not be difficult. For your convenience, I have also come up with lightweight and compact beach chairs/camp chairs to help you bring them easily on a plane.

Can You Check a Beach Chair On Southwest, American, United, and Delta Airlines?

Beach chairs are not like sensitive objects that you’re not allowed to bring onboard. You can easily bring beach chairs on a plane. However, each airline has weight and size limits for checked and carry-on baggage.

I did a little bit of research on the websites of these airlines and found that you can easily check beach chairs on them.

The size limit for checked baggage should not exceed 62 inches. The combined outer dimensions of the baggage including wheels and handles (length+width+height) should not exceed 62 inches. If the size exceeds 62 inches then additional charges will apply.

Apart from the checked baggage, you are allowed to take one carry-on bag and 1 personal item for free. The size limit for carry-on bags is ( 9 height×14 wide×22 length) inches. The personal item should fit under the seat in front of you.

For most airlines, the maximum weight per checked baggage for Economy is 50 pounds (23 kilograms) whereas for Business and First class, the weight limit is 70 pounds (32 kilograms).

Additional charges apply on bags that exceed these weights depending on the airline you’re traveling with.

How To Bring Beach Chairs On a Plane?

After knowing the weight and size limits of checked baggage and carry-on bags it all comes down to your packing skills and the type of beach chair you have.

Do you have one beach chair or several beach chairs? What type of beach chair do you have? Is it lightweight and compact or heavy?

If you have a lightweight and compact beach chair it should easily fit in your carry-on bag/suitcase or at least in your checked baggage.

If you have a large and heavy beach chair you may face a hard time fitting it in a suitcase. Let’s say you’re traveling with a zero-gravity beach chair. It weighs over 20 pounds and is also large.

Despite being heavy and large this beach chair should fit in your suitcase if you have a big one.

If you can’t fit this beach chair in your bag what you can do is bring a separate duffel bag or travel bag for this beach chair. You should pack all your beach chairs separately in this bag. In this way, you will avoid paying extra charges at the airport.

Travel Beach Chairs That Fit In a Suitcase:

For your convenience, I suggest purchasing lightweight and compact beach chairs. Not only are they easy to bring on the plane but also portable on the beach. Various brands offer attractive options.

I have come up with 3 lightweight and compact beach chairs that can easily fit in your suitcase. So you don’t need to worry about bringing them on the plane on your next flight.
